CRUISE TRIP'19: PENANG & LANGAWI

It's the semester break now and finally having some time to sort and organise my media gallery (my phone had like 57k photos and videos to be cleared and back-up) and so I remembered I haven't really blogged about my travel trips last year....it was such a hectic year that my last travel post was 2018. So, I guess I will finally have some time now to sit down to properly draft out and blog about my travel trips last year in 2019, especially since most of us don't get to travel out this year due to the pandemic. Nonetheless, it's nice to reminisce and look back at the memories next time so I hope I can remember what I did from last year (close to two years since the year is coming to an end soon welps)

So I went on a short 4D3N cruise getaway onboard Dream Cruises in April 2019, just right after the seniors ORD chalet - I realised I have always been travelling right after every batch of ORD celebration LOL). Honestly this was also quite an impromtu trip as I remember only booking it like a month or two prior to departure. Nonetheless it was a great short getaway from the busy mundane unit life back then, and a great break for myself especially, after planning the final ORD chalet for the seniors. It has honestly been soooo long since I went on a cruise, I think the last time was in primary school? And this time we have decided to cruise to have two short day stopovers in Langawi and Penang, which I do not have recollection going to as a child, but apparently I did.

Honestly the best part about a cruise trip is the facilities on board + enjoying the sea breeze and view onboard, which makes every spot Instagrammable.

And of course the best part of cruise trip is always the buffet meals like there's so much variety and no doubt the first thing we did right after we checked-in to our rooms was to head to the buffet area for our meal

The rest of the first day was just spent navigating around the cruise ship, looking at the facilities it offers and then also preparing and researching on the travel plan in Penang the next day. And of course breakfast HAD to be sum dim sum - who doesn't love dim sum?!!

Upon reaching Penang, we hired a cab to bring us to the famed Peranakan Nyonya museum which was one of the filming sites for The Little Nyonya. The avid fan in me was particularly excited for this part of the tour and of course took the opportunity to learn more about the culture.

Of course, when at Penang, we cannot miss out on the street art as well! We embarked on a little mini street art walk finding all the street murals and also to appreciate the old streets of Georgetown.

The third day of the cruise trip entails our stop over at Langkawi, and of course, what's a trip to Langkawi without going to the iconic eagle statue and taking photos there? Because of the tight schedule, we embarked early in the morning around 8 plus and booked a cab to the statue area

We also headed to a local aquarium as well as local malls for a short shopping time before returning to the cruise mid-noon for lunch as we had also planned to catch the cruise talent performance show as well.

It has been a great short getaway, though the only pity was that we weren't able to experience the beauty of the two towns in whole, like eating the local food and all because the stopovers were less than a day so it is hard to squeeze in many things to do within that short period of time. Thankfully, we had the opportunity to shop around to get some souvenirs and also did many sightseeing.

I guess I will be posting more posts about my other trips in the coming weeks, as I try to clear my many drafted posts LOL. For now, just enjoy my vlogs as well!
