Finally got a chance to travel post-pandemic!! Although it was only a 2D1N short trip to JB, I was rather excited because I haven't really got to explore much of JB + getting to travel with my friends of 10 years+ so it was something worth looking forward to!
We planned to enter JB on a Sunday and return on Monday, hoping that there would be lesser people at the customs because it's a weekday but no - our return trip took us close to 2 hours to clear both customs. Thankfully, when we entered, the queue was super short and took us only 30 minutes to clear - we entered JB around 9.15am and since it was super early, the malls were not even opened yet so there was literally a whole crowd of people waiting about 20 minutes for the malls to be opened.
First stop we headed for some shopping at City Square and Komtar until lunchtime where we wanted to do some cafe hopping around the area - we wanted to eat at Flowers in the Window but it was full house and had a queue so we decided to eat opposite at The Replacement instead - which honestly, the food was quite meh, cafe standard.
We went next door to Offee for some desserts and drinks - AND I REALLY LOVE THIS PLACE it's so aesthetic and pretty. The drinks were pretty legit too, I got the hojicha latte and it's not that sweet. The tiramisu was really GOOD - we almost wanted to order another one but we decided it's about time to check in at the hotel.
We booked a night over at Crystal Crown, which was 5 minutes walk away from KSL so it's super accessible. A night here was about 50SGD, so pretty cheap + do opt for the newly renovated rooms because the older rooms are kinda spooky and the rest of the hotel is honestly quite old. Even the pool.... it's really just giving "I am a swimming pool." Nonetheless, since we are only staying for a night, it's pretty decent.
Thankfully the weather throughout our stay was pretty good - we were expecting it to rain but it did not so we could go Go-Karting. It was my first time doing Go-Kart and it was a pretty fun experience!!! We went at a time where there were no people so we literally had the whole track to ourselves for 10 minutes which was super fun!
Also, as this racing track was quite ulu - literally about 20 minutes drive from the main road into some plantation area, the grab driver that drove us in was telling us how it would be quite difficult for us to get a cab out of the area - to which he gave his his number and told us to contact him in the case that we could not get a grab out, and if he is still in the area. So after we were done with our Go-Kart experience, we tried finding a Grab and we managed to get a booking. BUT THE PLOT TWIST CAME when the driver was the same as the one we got when coming in!!! We didn't expect and he was telling us that actually he was waiting for us outside and wondering why we didn't call him but we were thinking that he literally told us to try grab first and only contact him if we couldn't get a grab. He added that since we booked by grab, 20% would go to Grab platform fee (he mentioned it like 3 times) so we kinda felt bad and gave him some tip..... but nonetheless he was a really nice and friendly driver.
Back at KSL we did some shopping before heading for dinner at a zi char place also within walking distance from our hotel - we ordered SO MUCH and it was only RM145 ~ $12 PER PAX OMG WHAT A STEAL
We went to Avery Day to chill as well and also got some Lok Lok for supper! We headed back to the hotel to eat while doing some IG Live which lasted for 2 hours plus which was really quite entertaining being relationship gurus and answering our viewers' relationship questions LOL
The next day we headed to Gim Cheng for some dim sum for breakfast! We literally did not expect such a long queue - queued for 30 minutes but it was super worth it - only like $9SGD per pax?? We were SO FULL we took it as brunch and we didn't even eat lunch after that.
We went back to our hotel to check out and then headed to KSL for massage!!
We headed to Chow Q Cafe after our massage - AND IT IS DEFINITELY THE HIGHLIGHT OF THIS TRIP LIKE OMG ALL THE DOGS ARE SOOOOOOO CUTE SO BIG AND FLUFFY LIKE!!!!!! Also we didn't expect there to be a cats cafe section as well and since I am more of a cat person - I LOVED IT.
We spent quite a while at Chow Q as well before deciding to go for dinner at Soon Huat Bak Kut Teh - allegedly better than Soon Soon Heng Bak Kut Teh opposite KSL. Also another cheap meal only SGD$25 for everything we ordered!!
We then went for last minute shopping at Mid Valley Southkey before heading back to the customs where we waited close to 2 hours to clear both customs....
Totally a fun and relaxing trip with the girls and if we had another day we would probably explore Mount Austin next time ~
