AN ENRICHING EXPERIENCE .

So supposedly it's the 2 months semester holidays break but nope, had to make use of the 2 months holiday for our field practicum attachment. At first it was something which we all dreaded - going to the centre everyday for 2 months with assessments to do and reflections to complete. Every year the lecturers reminded us not to go on holidays for our semester break in 3.1. And now the time has finally came.

Thankfully, with a good centre, good mentor and helpful staff and attachment mates, it has helped made my attachment experience a rather fulfilling one. With an blink of an eye, it's already the last day of attachment!!

Throughout the whole practicum, I have experienced many things which I feel would be beneficial to me if I were to continue in this field. With a not so satisfactory field supervisor, it added on more stress to our assessment as we can never expect what she would say.

The first assessment was insane as it was totally not what we have expected and there was a lot of regrets as I wasn't able to show as much as what I have planned originally. The second one seemed to be more manageable but this was just my fault which had caused a mistake during the assessment. Fortunately, the next two assessments was better and I felt that together as a team, we did really well in doing the meeting and workshop. There is the sense of satisfaction when we see parents and children enjoying the programmes which we have planned for them and it was truly worth it (the pun lol)

Without a supportive mentor and staff, we wouldn't be able to conduct our assessments so smoothly and I have to say that we are really blessed to have a good centre to enhance our learning experience. I still remember on the first day, I was truly amazed how well-disciplined the children at the centre was, especially the older ones, which was usually the more talkative one, based on previous years experience.

Throughout the 2 months, I had the opportunity to get to know each and every child in my class and formed a relationship with them. Like every morning they'll be rushing to greet me when I enter the room or they will be super excited and happy to see me again after the weekends. It has been a bittersweet goodbye today as it is very exciting to have finally ended the 2 months practicum but at the same time will miss the kids there (plus the fact that today's children's day). But well I TOOK A PHOTO WITH MY FAV CHILD SO THAT'S ALL IT MATTERS HAHAHA. Hopefully will be able to go back to see them graduating in December!
