WHY I AM THANKFUL FOR GIRLS' GENERATION | #30DAYS .

Managed to blog for a week now for the #30DAYS challenge, good job to myself *pats self*

[Day 07- A picture of someone/something that has the biggest impact on you]

I pondered for quite some time before thinking about what I want to write about for today's topic. There are many people, many things and many events which I have experienced over the years which had an impact on my life. Do I want to write about a certain someone which impacted me the most or a certain event which had helped me grow as a person? After some time, I decided to talk about something which I have started to join and love 5 years back and have never regretted ever since.

Yes, Girls' Generation. A korean pop girl group has one of the biggest impact on my life. I remembered I started listening to KPOP in secondary school, about 2010/2011 where friends introduced various korean songs to me and I liked those. Slowly started to find out more about the group and their songs and then started to like their music. Apart from just watching their performances and listening to their music, watching them on variety shows was another plus factor which led me to the fandom. They showed a different image on variety shows and through reality shows and interviews, it allowed us to get to know their personalities better and know the hardworking side behind all the glamour. It's amazing how 9 girls with different personalities come together as one to achieve many things.

Some people might find it rather cliche or even think it's lame and childish to be so obsessed with a korean pop group, and some even say they are just for business, but as fans, we know how it is actually like and actually it is our own choice so no need for all the judgments.

Girls’ Generation - as much as I loved their music and shows, they were so much more to me. They opened a door of understanding and inspiration. More than that, they opened my eyes. Through my secondary school years, there were many setbacks and lows, such as after the demise of my grandmother. They were one of the reasons which helped me get over those difficult times, apart from beloved friends and family. For example, during O levels period, I also listen to them while studying, and get myself motivated by their quotes (you'll see on my Instagram that I posted some of their quotes especially during O levels period). Through their songs, laughter, smiles and supportive nature, it gives me some form of encouragement and a message of hope. Even though as fans we don't know them personally but it feels like they are always there, reaching out to through simple gestures to tell us that it is okay to make mistakes, that it is okay to be yourself. Girls' Generation actually played a part to keep me going.

In embarking on a lifelong journey of self-discovery through trial and error and various mistakes, we are slowly finding ourselves. Through Girls’ Generation, I know I have certainly found pieces of myself, and I have learned to accept things about myself. These nine girls don’t even have to speak directly to me, but by simply watching them and sharing their joys and sadness has allowed me to discover the ups and downs in life. They have given me a reason to smile. They taught me to look out for others around me, and be thankful for every little thing that has happened in life - for better or for worse, and learning from every mistake and standing back up, stronger. I know that the girls will continue to provide fans with their hopeful light: a light that gives us the strength to fulfill ours dreams, guiding us to never lose sight of who we are, especially when life is short.

Even if they go their ways in the future, I will always remember the nine girls which brought me hope, encouragement and inspiration. I'm always thankful to experience many many things through Girls' Generation, which helped me grow as a person.

let's go on together till the end x
