And so I went to Thailand last month for a 6 day holiday trip with my family - which was exciting for me personally because it has been more than 10 years since we went on a family trip together + it's been 7 years since I last went overseas ever since my passport expired after Sec 2 camp to Malaysia, I haven't renewed it and have not went overseas SOOO this trip was pretty exciting and something I have been looking forward to for a long time.
My family went to three parts of Thailand for our trip - Hua Hin, Khao Yai and Bangkok! Usually people go to Thailand to Bangkok and like Phuket or Chiang Mai so we wanted to check out other new tourist spots in the lesser known outskirts of Thailand. There was a lot of FIRST experiences I had this trip so do read on to find out more as I share my experiences and vlogs for this trip.
Hua Hin is a seaside town which is associated with the Thai Royal Family as they usually go to the town to stay. Hua Hin is about 2.5 hours away from Bangkok and has various tourist spots which I covered during my two days stint in Hua Hin, which has been a fulfilling & therapeutic getaway spot filled with pretty sights and new experiences.
Our first stop at Hua Hin was Swiss Sheep Farm, which was a interesting experience AS IT WAS MY FIRST TIME seeing so many sheeps up close and getting the chance to feed them?? And apart from sheeps there were ALPACAS as well (like my first time seeing them and wow they are really cute) as well as horses and cows!!
The next day in Hua Hin, we went to couple of tourist attractions such as Satorini Park - cutely modeled after Santorini in Greece, which has various game attractions (similar to USS) and photo spots around.

We also went to Venezia, this time to have a taste of Venice. I feel like this trip to Thailand I'm going to a lot of places that are not so "Thailand". Also sat on a gondola boat for the first time which was an interesting experience.
Ended off my time in Hua Hin with a short visit to Plearnwan Old Town and Hua Hin Railway station which are historical sites turned attractions for visitors to visit and learn the culture and life. Also visited a night market after Dinner so it was a fun filled day.
Moving on to Khao Yai, which was at the other end of Thailand from where Hua Hin was, so we had to take a 6 hour car ride from Hua Hin to Bangkok (for a quick stopover lunch) and to Khao Yai, which is a quiet but scenic and nature based town which is 3 hours away from Bangkok and has various tourist spots such as The Hobbit, The Bloom, Primo Piazza and Palio Village which I visited for the next two days of my trip.
The first stop we went upon reaching Khao Yai was The Hobbit, which was a photo spot with the backdrop of Lord Of The Rings. It also has accommodations for people to stay over in the Hobbit houses as well.
The second day in Khao Yai, we started off the day at PB Winery like drinking wine early in the morning??? Really cool to see the process and actually taste the wine made in Thailand because usually when people think of wine they won't think of Thailand made wine so it was a cool experience.
Next we moved on to The Bloom, which was reminiscent of Singapore's Garden By The Bay but a smaller scale one - we saw Sunflowers!! It was still in the midst of blooming and the guide said the full bloom period was towards the end of the year.
Next we also went to Primo Piazza, which was modeled to be a little Italian town as well as Palio Village, an European shopping village. Both places were honestly just photo spots with various "Instagram worthy" photo spots but honestly there was nothing much of interest there except to take photos.
For the last two days of the trip, we returned back to Bangkok where we had free and easy time to shop and went to shopping centres such as Central World, MBK, Platinum as well as night markets around our hotel area.
Overall, this trip has been a fruitful and fulfilling one for me to rewind and relax and also to get a glimpse into the Thai culture and visit various spots and experiences that I would not have in Singapore. It was also a great family bonding trip as it has been a long while since we did something like that as a family so I was thankful for it. Out of the three places, I would personally recommend Hua Hin to people who want to go to Thailand as it has more things to do (as compared to Khao Yai) and it is more accessible as well.
Looking forward to the next trip! ~
