To be honest, I wasn't really afraid of having nothing to do or feeling bored - probably the inner introvert homebody in me was secretly happy to having some me-time, though I'm missing hanging out with my friends outside already. I miss having the freedom to just go anywhere whenever I want, buying whatever I want without worrying about shops having to close - that is taking things for granted? I believe this CB period has changed most of our habitus, getting us all to adopt new changes, new strategies to our daily routine, changing how society works. Perhaps so even after this pandemic slowly die down, it will still take time to "go back to the usual routine", or rather people begin to incorporate new strategies one has learnt during this period - such as in the massive turn to using technology platforms for education and work, which would definitely change the game on how we should go on our everyday lives, that is cited from a certain minister that "certain jobs and work can be indeed done from home with Internet"
The first three weeks of CB was basically me trying to study at home, because my semester and finals has yet to end. Honestly with the introduction of online assessments, there are both pros and cons to it, though I'm still the "old school" type who prefers learning in the classrooms, but nonetheless the professors and tutors had quickly adjusted their teaching plans and methods so as to ensure continued learning from homes without compromising our learning objectives for the various modules. Definitely the "free SU" scheme this semester was "god-sent", though I had some dilemma on whether I want to SU or not - between "saving my GPA" or "wanting to know how I did" (because NTU doesn't let us know our results before we choose whether we want to SU a certain module or not ew). I was honestly depending on this semester to pull up my GPA after a mess last semester. Though I was pretty much confident with getting at least a B grade for a module, reality is that it's probably not enough - because of the bell curve system. Then again because of the effort you put into a module, you would want to know how well you did right? So I was like debating on these two perspectives so eventually I did not SU that module - though I hope I don't regret my decision *fingers crossed* The past year in university was rather fast, or actually it was just this semester which didn't felt like a semester (the first semester felt like a year tbh). But I'm thankful that I was able to get through the year in a totally new subject and glad to meet new people and help each other get through this semester peacefully. 3 more years to go - I don't even know what to expect.
Moving on, basically spent a lot of me-time after finals - binge watching dramas and movies (I literally completed 3 drama series in 2 weeks - fastest was 1 series in 2 days lol); side track I really love Crash Landing On You, I literally cried twice watching this though I initially thought it would be a typical cliche romcom but it was rather funny, comical and yet emotional and frustrating at the same time - highly recommended 8/10. Anyways, I also started to finally learn Korean!! Signed up for a Korean language course by Yonsei University and it's pretty manageable now - though I think I will forget if I don't revise, which is true when they say its easier to pick up languages when you are younger LOL. I also spent time to learn different things - dancing, making drinks (like variations of Dalgona), cooking - I literally tried to cook tteokbokki but couldn't find Kimchi to make Kimchi Jiggae. I also got back to reading and video editing, so it was a rather fulfilling me-time so far for the CB period. Alot more things I have yet to do, so hopefully will get to do them before the CB period ends (I'm sorry I havent blogged for a long time - especially my travel blogs for last year's trips), will get to them soon.
That being said, this is the best time to take a break from the outside world, spend time to yourself and do lots of fun things which interest and inspire you, allowing you to learn more about yourself to come out of this CB period as an "upgraded" person.
