MALACCA TRIP'19

Went on my final overseas trip right before COVID-19 happened to Malacca over the December holidays last year! This was quite an impromptu family trip as I somewhat recall only making arrangements and bookings for it like few weeks prior to the trip. This was also a trip which I planned and made the bookings myself and even planned the rough itinerary for the family with a powerpoint presentation LOL.

Though it was just a short 3D2N trip to Malacca, it was a fascinating one for me as I don't recall going to Malacca before in my life, though my parents said I have went when I was really young. Nonetheless, I really love the rustic street vibes filed with cultural elements in Malacca which was really interesting.

We took a coach to Malacca from Kovan (really convenient for us) and the ride was about 3 hours? Really long yet comfy ride (literally can watch a movie) and there was also a stopover at Yong Peng Rest stop for a quick rest.

Our first stop upon reaching was to have lunch at Ee Ji Ban Chicken Rice Balls just two streets across our hotel accommodation! This is one of the hot place for chicken rice balls as it was always full house and they have a dedicated queue to enter the store. I have never had chicken rice balls before but it was an interesting experience, tastewise, about the same as chicken rice I would say, but feels more rich and clumpy as the rice were moulded into riceballs.

After lunch, we headed over to A'Fomsa and St. Paul's Church, a famous landmark in Malacca which many come to take photos at the old fort. We also visited the nearby popular red building landmark of Malacca - Christchurch and also took the river cruise as well.

Our second day begun with a trip to Baba & Nyonya Heritage Museum! This was another one of the filming site used for The Little Nyonya, though smaller than the one I visited in Penang as well last year.

We also headed to Jonker Walk, though it was rather quiet as they only had the night bazaars during the weekends. Nonetheless, there was a lot of things to see and experience, such as the Mamee House, Zheng He Cultural Museum and we also visited a chill popular cafe The Daily Fix as well.

Our final day was just a chill and relaxing day exploring the megamalls and also to buy last minute souvenirs before our coach back to Singapore.

It was a short yet fulfilling getaway, and that no one would have expected that we couldn't travel at all for this year due to the pandemic. Looking forward to more travels once the pandemic is over - hopefully won't be long!
